About
I’ve known I wanted to be in technology since age six, when my mother—thanks to a mix of her wisdom and my relentless nagging—bought me a Commodore 64 for Christmas. Decades later, I still get that same glint in my eye when I dive into a new piece of tech or untangle a complex problem.
Professionally, I am a software developer and manager. I have been building software and leading teams for quite a long time, and I suspect I’ll remain in the industry until I retire—or until the unwelcomed robot overlords finally take over.
I created simplyroger to serve as both my professional portfolio and my digital playground. Depending on what brought you here, there are a few things you will find:
- If we are interviewing or you are looking at my background, welcome! You can find my complete work history, project highlights, and technical skills over in the Resume/Portfolio section.
- This blog is where I codify my thoughts on the technologies, gadgets, and development methodologies I use in my daily work. I’ll also occasionally weigh in on recent industry news and trends.
- Head over to simplyroger.ai to read Chippie, my AI dog, explaining my ideas, probably better than I ever could. (I review every post before it goes up.)
- I firmly believe in having a life outside the terminal. I'll probably throw in a few random movie or book reviews, and—most importantly—expect to see the occasional photo of my dogs.
I can only promise that I will do my best to provide an honest perspective on all of these tech-adjacent musings.
Thanks for visiting, and welcome!
